Most digital camcorders and cameras available in the market have USB ports. The advantage of using digital camcorders and cameras is that they have higher resolution and clearer video broadcast than normal or ordinary web cam. No harm doing this because these cams were designed to be used as web cam as well. Switch on the web cam option of your cam and connect it to your pc through USB cable. But you have to load the cam driver if it is asked by windows. Load the driver from the CD that came with you cam. Digital camcorders and digital cameras with USB port can be used as a webcam.
