How do I take pictures with my webcam of the person I am chatting with during a conversation?

I only IM with my husband and I know I can take pictures of him when he uses his webcam and I mine but I dont know how to do this. I use yahoo and windows live messenger. Any help is greatly appreciated, I want a new picture of him since I havent seen him in 8 months. Thanks.

Hi you do not say what sort of webcam you have – mine only allows me to take pictures from my webcam – I know there is software out there for what you want but dont know of any free downloads ( except trials)
