Dio D asked:
They could put radio show of a Ultra Left Commentator right after Rush Limbaugh. And most people will simply change the station to Sports radio, Music radio, or just turn the radio off. The People will still have a choice. Just like the people have the choice not to listen to Air America. Also we have Internet radio, Podcasting and Satellite radio.
cookie – I simply will go watch another game on another field! Get it CHOICE!!!!

It will, the messiah commands it.
Now bow to the east and beg forgiveness of the messiah for your blasphemy, you infidel.

No one is really concerned about this. This is just a non-issue that people like Hannity talk about non-stop while his opponents really aren’t concerned with. Sure there are some who want to bring it back but they are not the ones in power to reintroduce it.
NON-ISSUE.

I’m a Democrat, against the Fairness Doctrine.

Do Republicans understand that no one is talking about bringing the fairness doctrine back.

Like most things Reagan started.

Be careful…they are thinking about implementing it on the internet as well.

It is not a Democrat issue.
It will not happen.
It is a non issue.
This is another non issue that Hannity and Limbaugh will use to keep their sheep in their trance.
Although the Bush administration was allowed to wipe their arse with the constitution, most Americans still believe in it and will defend it.
(conservative republicans will not unless they are told to do so by hannity or limbaugh)

They don’t have effective reasoning skills to realize that.
I am going to join with the person who already has lawsuits lined up against liberal sources.
They are also calling it something else, but it will still have the same effect.

It’s not about choice.
When the station owners see that their slots following Rush are not being listened to, and no one will buy an ad turning that slot, the station owners will feel it in the pocketbook and either switch formats altogether or go off the air.
The could care less about getting Randi Rhoads on the air, they just want Rush off.

I don’t think they need to get people to listen to liberal radio, they just need to make it harder for people to hear conservative radio.
You need to look back to why conservatives had to go to talk radio to understand. They were effectively squeezed out of all broadcasts (Believe it or not but TV news and current events used to be WAY more biased to the left than it is now) so they went to where the liberals weren’t. AM radio. It was considered a dead format, there was no one broadcasting really, so there was lots of cheap air time to be had. This was around the late 70’s when things started to take off.
All they have to do is disrupt, and they are itching to do it. They can’t compete anywhere except in an intellectual vacuum, so they need to snuff out what the conservatives do have a majority presence in.

The American Public determine what they want to listen to.If anything Republicans know what sells and what doesn’t.Air America failed because it was like listening to fingernails across the blackboard.Whine, whine, bash Bush and whine,whine.boring.Turn the channel.

Probably it won’t work because of all the communication choices now. But I remember before Reagan gutted the Fairness Doctrine and stations had to allow for opposing viewing when it came to politics. it was interesting listening to both sides present their point of views, one after the other.

It’ll work because it levels out the playing field. I suppose you are again affirmative action aren’t you?

The fact that their is such a conservative uproar over the Fairness Doctrine has forced me to take a look at this doctrine, after reading it word for word and researching it’s origin I come to the conclusion that anyone worried about this has either has no idea what it is or they wish to censor opposing view points.
This Doctrine simply requires any licensed station to ALLOW for an opposing view point rather than push their own agenda as truth.
It in FACT does not censor any view point it simply says you have to present the other viewpoint as well and allow for a rebuttal by persons that you attack. Most credible News channels already do this, including Fox.

For those who believe it is not going to happen then they need to listen to the senior senator from New York, the senator leader from Nevada, the speaker of the House and many others who have stated in the last three months that they will PUSH for this unfair law!
It is being pushed by the Democrats because the feel that those who do not agree with them are wrong!

Funny how they pick names that are the opposite of what actually happens. Censorship is what it is all about, not Fairness.
